Obama's Flawed Sales Pitch

Over the weekend, particularly on Sunday, Obama took to the airwaves to sell healthcare insurance. Unfortunately, his sales pitch had several flaws, the most notable of which was the auto versus healthcare insurance argument to support what he claims isn't a new tax.

From CNN:"What it's saying is ... that we're not going to have other people carrying your burdens for you any more than the fact that right now everybody in America, just about, has to get auto insurance," [Obama] said. "Nobody considers that a tax increase. People say to themselves, that is a fair way to make sure that, if you hit my car, that I'm not covering all the costs."

Perhaps no one has told Mr. Obama that Americans are not currently required from cradle to grave to own a car or carry car insurance. Hell, even those Americans who hold a driver's license are not "mandated" to purchase auto insurance unless and until they actually put a car they own on the road and get behind the wheel of said car. This is why the comparison of auto insurance to healthcare insurance doesn't work.

Just because our purported president says a "mandate" for all Americans to purchase healthcare insurance isn't a new tax doesn't mean it isn't. And since when did Obama, or the Congress, presume the authority to tax me or my fellow Americans, our children or any baby born in America for the right to live? I did not choose to be born, yet I am here, but that doesn't mean I want my air taxed or my very life taxed to death. As many of the signs at tea parties across the nation read: I am not your ATM, Mr. Obama.

I highly resent the fact that Obama, Baucus and the Congress appear to assume that I and the rest of my fellow Americans are so stupid as to not be able to reason. I'm insulted by the obvious assumption on their part that we the People will swallow any kind of BS they wish to offer in support of their attempt to take total control of our lives under the guise of "healthcare reform."

Regardless of the sales pitch, no one but the most brainwashed among us is fooled: a government "mandate" for all Americans to purchase anything, especially healthcare insurance, IS a tax.  There might've been one born every minute, according to PT Barnum, but it's becoming increasingly obvious to a growing majority of the American People that they all work in Washington DC--for the moment, anyway.

Either our purported president has no ability to reason, he possesses no common sense whatsoever or he is just lying through his teeth to sell this new tax on all of us, young and old, newborn to senior citizen. I leave the reader the absolute freedom to be the judge of that.

McCarthy-style Tactics and Racism

I was watching a movie the other day--Good Night and Good Luck, about Edward R. Murrow when he and CBS News took on Senator Joe McCarthy--and I was struck by the similarities between the tactics of McCarthy and those of the liberal left today.

An air of unspoken terror prevailed in the country during McCarthy's era. If you publicly opposed Joe McCarthy, you were immediately branded a communist or a communist-sympathizer. The thought police would be digging into your past and if you ever picked up even so much as a magazine the junior Senator deemed subversive, you might be hauled before the Senate Committee for questioning.

McCarthy was not against lying either. He was fond of stating untruths, such as organizations like the ACLU had been listed as communist by one government entity or another when, in fact, they had not and never were. The ends justified the means, according to McCarthy, even if those means meant trampling the constitutional rights of anyone who opposed him.

Now apply that to the "race card" and "racism."

According to the mainstream media, the official mouthpieces for the current leftist administration in Washington DC, you must be a racist if:

1. You're white.

2. You're white and you disagree with the purported president of these United States.

3. You're white, you disagree with the purported president as well as oppose the spendilicious Democratic majority in Congress.

When President Bush was booed by Democrats during a speech to a joint session of Congress, were these Democrats reprimanded for their rude and crude behavior? No. No resolutions of disapproval. No pointing fingers or continuing accusations fabricated out of thin air that Representative Joe Wilson was even thinking "boy" let alone considering adding that to his "you lie" shout during Obama's healthcare propaganda...er, speech...a week ago Wednesday.

I'm not defending Joe Wilson's lack of decorum, by the way. But he apologized, the president accepted and that should have been the end of it. But the liberal left won't let the issue go--a simple "you lie" has now blossomed into a race issue, at least according to the mainstream media, FOX News excepted. Why is that? Why does the media feel a need to continue to exploit "race" at every turn? Think McCarthy-style tactics and you'll have your answer.

Decades ago, I believed with all my heart--to paraphrase Thomas Jefferson--that if I had to choose between a government with no newspapers or newspapers without government, I would choose the latter. Over the years I have been rudely and crudely disabused of that notion, to my grave disappointment.

There is less a problem with race in this country than those with an ulterior motive would have us all believe. So why do those so-called journalists who would shout to the rafters "I am not a racist" see racism at every turn? Can anyone here spell "manufactured crisis," as in "never let a good crisis go to waste?"

A race war could "force" the purported president to declare martial law, thus suspending elections until such a time as he "deems" the American People fit to choose their next president.  And since, according to the 60 minutes interview, Obama intends to "be president for a while," these McCarthy-style tactics with "race" and "racism" may just be the first shot in an all-out coup de tat. I wouldn't put this past him, or Pelosi, or Reid, who said only a few days ago that if he can't get healthcare passed with a proper Senate majority of 60 votes, he'll resort to a budgetary "resolution" that will allow Congress to pass healthcare, whether we the People want it or not, with just a simple majority vote in the Senate.

So, what is the liberal agenda anyway? And what does it mean for America as we know it?

Edward R. Murrow must be rolling in his grave.

Sorry, Obama--Not Buying a Word

Anyone who knows me knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that I have absolutely no use for liars. Once a liar, always a liar, at least to my way of thinking. And last night's speech by our purported president wasn't anything less than a pack of lies designed to sell the American People on a pig in a poke.

Long on partisan rhetoric, the speech was too short on details. The president's so-called plan sounded suspiciously like HR 3200, the House bill passed out of committee prior to the August recess, a bill that amounts to nothing less than government control of not only our healthcare system, but our lives. And I'm not buying.

Obama spoke out of both sides of his mouth last night. He called for civility and then attacked republicans, independents, and anyone who disagreed with his "vision" for healthcare. He asked for bipartisanship, then said in reference to what he called lies and misinformation about the proposed healthcare reform, "we will call you out." So who is this "we," Obama? Is "we" your band of union thugs that beat up a black conservative outside of a townhall meeting in St. Louis for merely giving away a few anti-government trinkets? Is "we" the members of the New Black Panther Party who stood outside a polling place in Pennsylvania with baseball bats in order to intimidate voters (and whom Eric Holder refused to prosecute)?

Is "we" Van Jones, the recent "green czar" who resigned after claiming he was "smeared" by his own words caught on tape? Is "we" the socialists and communists with whom you've surrounded yourself?

What about "We the People", Obama? Have you heard us at all? Apparently not.

We the People might want healthcare reform, but nothing close to what Obama and his band of Demothugs proposes.

Last night, the so-called president claimed to be for free enterprise and competition. I almost fell out of my chair at the audacity of the man. His actions to date speak louder in opposition to that statement than his latest lies.

I highly resent being called a liar in so many words by a proven liar elected to represent all Americans merely because I vigorously oppose what he and his band of lefties are trying to do to our country--unconstitutionally, I might add. And I've read HR 3200, something I doubt Obama has done, even now.

We the People need to change the face of Washington, beginning with the House of Representatives in 2010. I'm all for voting out every single incumbent. Perhaps our Liar in Chief will begin to hear the American People then, although I, for one, am not holding my breath.
